We are honored to have Dan Maddux, Executive Director of the APA, as our opening speaker.  Dan will be bringing us the latest news from the national APA.

Dan arrived in New York City at age 19 to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts.  His career began as the first employee hired by the fledgling American Payroll Association.  Over the next ten years, he would hold every associatione job , ultimately becoming Executive Director.

Under his leadership the association has grown to more than 23,000 members, 153 local chapters, and a staff of nearly 100. More than 20,000 payroll professionals

receive training each year through the APA’s hundreds of  educational

offerings.

In 1996, he founded National Payroll Week as an industry-wide public awareness campaign to help educate workers on issues relating to their paychecks and the payroll withholding system. Maddux has a vast travel schedule in the US, and he regularly addresses audiences in Canada, United Kingdom, Australia and South Africa.

Tony Deyo is a rarity in the comedy world - clean AND funny. He is known for his sharp, quick material and near perfect timing almost certainly gained from his years as a professional symphony musician.  In 2011, Deyo was named one of the year’s best by the New York Post, and has been heard on the nationally syndicated Bob & Tom Radio Show.

Tony grew up in a small town in rural Virginia. After receiving a bachelor’s degree in education and master’s degree in music, he was a middle school teacher for three years before realizing that he had a strong distaste for children. After moving to Austin, TX, Deyo discovered comedy. He began performing, influenced by the work of Jerry Seinfeld and Brian Regan.
