The APA Detroit Chapter is affiliated with the American Payroll Association, but is an autonomous and independent organization.

MICHIGAN APA RECOGNITION
At our annual Statewide Meetings, the sponsoring Chapters recognize Michigan individuals who have made significant contributions to the payroll profession.
Starting in 1989, awards were presented to the Michigan Payroll Man and Woman of the Year. Beginning in 1992 awards have been given to the Outstanding Payroll Professional of the year (regardless of gender) and awards for Meritorious Service to the payroll community.
The following recipients have been recognized for their service:

In 2008 two Payroll Professional of the Year Awards were presented. Dawn Stephans (left) presented the award to Luanne Brown, CPP, and Roger Smith, CPP presented the award to Adrienne Crawford, CPP.





Howard Goldman, CPP, (right) arrived just in time to receive the 2008 Meritorious Service Award from Susan Sather, CPP.

Paula Burin was designated the 2001 Michigan Payroll Professional of the Year. Following the tragic events of September 11, 2001, a donation was made to the American Red Cross in lieu of the Meritorious Service Award.

Mary Jo Harling, CPP, received the 2000 Michigan Payroll Professional of the Year award.
Paula Burin received the 2000 Meritorious Service Award.
